The WNY Mustangs 14U White competes at the HUGE Mid West World Series Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.

The WNY Mustangs 14U White team traveled to Columbus, Ohio to play in the Mid West World Series at the 32-diamond Lou Berliner Park.  There were 54 teams competing in the 14U division.

The team opened pool play with a win over the Cincy Storm with a 4-3 win.  Next up was the Fox Valley Renegades of Chicago, Illinois.  The Mustangs took the lead in the top of the seventh inning only to surrender a 2-out, game-winning hit to their star shortstop.  They lost a tough 6-5 battle.  On Saturday, pool play continued with a game against the Ohio Blast.  Once again, the WNY Mustangs took a lead into the 7th inning and failed to close out the opponent.  They lost that game 7-6.  The final pool game saw the 'stangs take out their frustrations on the Thunder Boltz from NE Indiana with a 15-2 win.

Bracket play started on Saturday evening under the lights.  Their opponent was the Thunderbirds of Michigan.  This game saw the Mustangs pound their opponent by a 14-1 score.

Bracket play continued on Sunday after the rains came.  The games were shortened to just 50 minutes.  Next uo was the #2 seed Hearts of Ohio Bombers.  The Mustangs scored early and won 4-1.  Next up was a #1 seed Michigan Firstix team.  The game was close, tied 1-1 after 35 minutes.  The Firestix scored 2 in at the 45 minute mark to take the lead.  The Mustangs would get one more crack a bat.  They scored 1 run to pull within one run and loaded the bases with only one out.  Unfortunately, the girls could not push across the tying run and lost 3-2.

4 wins and 3 losses by a total of only 3 runs.  Good for a top 16 finish out of 54 teams.

Tryouts for the 2011 season will be held during the middle of August.  Stay tuned.
